KHULNA, July 23, 2021(BSS) – A total of 361 more people tested Covid-19 positive while 30 people died of the lethal virus in Khulna division today, climbing total infection to 85,535.
With the new fatalities, death toll from the disease reaches 2,093 in the division.
The fatalities included highest 549 in Khulna, followed by 465 in Kustia, 299 in Jashore, 179 in Jhenidah, 149 in Chuadanga, 113 in Bagerhat, 120 in Meherpur 83 in Narail, 82 in Satkhira, and 54 in Magura said Dr Jashim Uddin Howlader, divisional director of Health today.
Among the new deaths reported today, 11 are in Kustia, five each in Khulna and Jashore, three each in Chuadanga and Meherpur, two in Magura and one in Jhenidah in the division.
The new daily infection figure also shows a increasing trend compared to the previous day's figure of 213, said the health department sources, adding that the figure was 981 on Wednesday.
“Among the infected people, 59,115 have, so far, been cured from lethal virus with 980 new recoveries found this morning,” said Dr Jashim.
He added that a total of 11,729 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here.
Besides, all the positive cases of Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 85,984 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 60,566 have been released so far.
On the other hand, 87 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 194 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8.00 am today.
Of the total new positive cases, the highest 139 were detected in Khulna, followed by 73 in Jhenidah, 57 in Kustia, 22 in Narail, 21 in Jashore, 18 in Magura, 16 in Chuadanga, nine in Satkhira and six in Meherpur in the division.
The total Covid-19 patients now stands at 22,095 in Khulna, 17,591 in Jashore, 12,871 in Kustia, 6,823 in Jhenidah, 5,579 in Chuadanga 5,483 in Bagerhat, , 5,196 in Satkhira, 3,826 in Narail, 3,362 in Meherpur and 2,709 in Magura in the division.
