SHARIATPUR, May 31, 2022 (BSS) - World No Tobacco Day-2022 was observed in

the district in a befitting manner highlighting the health and other risks
associated with tobacco consumption and advocating for effective policies to
reduce tobacco consumption.

This year's theme for World No Tobacco Day in Bangladesh is 'Tobacco Threat
to Our Environment' (Tamak Mukto Paribesh, Susasther Bangladesh).

A colorful rally was organised by Shariatpur district administration this
morning marking the day.  

The district administration also arranged a discussion at the conference room
of Deputy Commissioner (DC) office this morning with additional District
Magistrate Md. Gias Uddin in the chair.

Additional Superintendent of Police Abu Saeed, Additional Deputy Commissioner
(Revenue) Asma Ul Hosna, President of Shariatpur Press Club Anol Kumar Dey,
Deputy Director of Islamic Foundation of Shariatpur Abdur Razzak Rony, Senior
Education Officer of Civil Surgeon office Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Sub-Inspector
of District Narcotics Control Department Apurba Biswas, among others, spoke
on the occasion.

The speakers emphasized on creating awareness to prevent tobacco consumption
and executing the laws and regulations properly to save the young generation.

Besides, different anti-tobacco organisations have chalked out various
programmes on the occasion of the day.
