CHATTOGRAM, May 31, 2022 (BSS) - A Chattogram Court today awarded life- term imprisonment to four people for beating to death to two youths at Baro Aulia area under Sitakunda Upazila of the district.

Fifth Additional District and Sessions Judge Ashok Kumar Dutta delivered the verdict in a crowded court with presence of all four accused.

The convicted persons are- Badsha Alam, Farooq Mia, Md Sekandar and Abul Kalam Azad, all hailed from Baro Aulia area of ??Sitakunda Upazila.
The two victims were Mohammad Harun, a resident of Baro Aulia area and his cousin Jahedul Alam.

The court also fined Tk 20,000 each, in default, they would have to suffer more four months imprisonment.

State Prosecutor Additional Metropolitan Public Prosecutor (PP) Lokman Hossain Chowdhury told BSS that Harun and Zahidul were beaten to death inside the Equity Readymix factory in Baro Aulia area of ??Sitakunda Upazila following previous enmity at about 3pm on April 20 in 2008pm.
Harun's father Mohammad Ali filed a murder case with Sitakunda Police Station at that time.

Police submitted charge sheet on September 18, in 2008 against the convicts while the court framed charges against them on September 19, 2010.

The court pronounced the verdict after examining 17 prosecution witnesses out of 22 and awarded the judgment convicting four accused in presence of them. They have been sent to jail after announcing the verdict, he added.
