RAJSHAHI, May 31, 2022 (BSS) - A total of 16 people and one institution were awarded in 15 categories as recognition of their laudable social contribution in Rajshahi.

The awardees are - Mosarraf Hossain Akunji (Language Movement), Advocate Abdus Salam (posthumous-Liberation War), Prof Sanat Kumar Shaha (Education), Prof Arun Kumar Bosak (Research), Prof Hassan Azizul Haque (posthumous-Literature), Prof Monzur Hossain (scientific innovation), Andrew Kishore (posthumous-Music and Culture), Fazley Sadain (Sports organising), Khaled Masud Pilot (Cricket), Sadar Ali (posthumous-Business), Dr Syed Safiqul Alam (posthumous-Social Work), Advocate Sayeed Uddin Ahmed (posthumous-Journalism), Police Sergeant Sandip Mallik (Special) and entrepreneurs Afroza Aziz Munni, Shahnaz Sultana and Afsana Akter in entrepreneurship.

 Apart from this, Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) also got award for social contribution.

Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (RCCI) arranged a reception for award winners at its conference hall in the city yesterday evening.

RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and Vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar addressed the ceremony as chief and special guests respectively, while RCCI President Masudur Rahman was in the chair.

Commissioner of Rajshahi division GSM Zafarullah and FBCCI Director Shamsuzzaman Awal also spoke.
