
RANGPUR, May 2, 2022 (BSS) – Rangpur city has worn a festive look and is ready to celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festivity of the Muslims, tomorrow in a befitting manner.
The main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation will be held at Rangpur Collectorate Eidgah in the city at 8:30 am on Tuesday, officials in the district administration and Islamic Foundation said tonight.
Alternatively, the main Eid-ul-Fitr jamat will be held at the District Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center in the city at 9 am if the weather remains unfavourable.
Rangpur City Corporation with the district and Rangpur Metropolitan Police administrations has completed preparations to hold Eid-ul-Fitr congregations amid tight security measures in the city.
Divisional Director of Islamic Foundation here Md. Abul Kalam Azad said Eid-ul-Fitr congregations will be arranged at Eidgahs, mosques and open grounds in the city and all eight upazilas and three municipalities in the district.
Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdul Wahhab Bhuiyan, Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud, Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan, Police Super Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury and leaders of district and city units of Awami League will take part in the main congregation.
Public representatives and high officials, political leaders, academics, socio-cultural activists, civil society members and professionals are expected to participate in the main congregation.
The national flag will be hoisted atop all government and private buildings, improved diets be served among inmates of the hospitals, orphanages, jail, vagabond centres and Shishu Paribars.
Rangpur City Corporation has decorated the main streets with the national flag and various colorful flags bearing inscriptions 'Eid Mubarak' giving a charming look across the city.
Besides, the main streets and major buildings and mosques have been illuminated and colorfully decorated on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr festivity giving a festive look all-around in the city.
In Rangpur city, major Eid-ul-Fitr congregations will be held at Rangpur Court Jam-e-Mosque, Munshipara Eidgah, Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque, Nasirabad Ekramia Jam-e-Mosque, Rangpur Medical College Central Jam-e-Mosque, Burirhat Central Eidgah, Central Bus Terminal Jam-e Mosque and other Eidgahs and mosques between 8:30 am and 9 am.
Outside the city, bigger Eid jamats will be held at Mithapukur Central Eidgah, Badarganj Chandamari Central Eidgah, Pirgachha JN High School ground, Kawnia Central Eidgah, Taraganj Chowpathi Eidgah, Pirganj Central Eidgah and Badarganj Central Eidgah and Paikan Baro Jumma ground between 8:30 am and 10 am.
Thousands of Muslim devotees will offer special munajats in the congregations seeking divine blessings for continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country, its people, Muslim Ummah and the humanity as a whole.
