RAJSHAHI, April 27, 2022 (BSS) - Police arrested three people on charge
of extortion through identifying themselves as members of Rapid Action
Battalion (RAB) from a place in the outskirts of the city yesterday.

     Police sources said the arrested were identified as Noyan Islam, 29, and
Md Zahid, 20, both of Chowbaria village under Poba Police Station, and Md
Manik, 35,of Mallikpur village under Barhatta Police Station in Netrakona
district.

     Rafiqul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan
Police, said the detained persons caught one Akbar Ali and snatched his
mobile phone in Chowbaria area around 7 pm on Tuesday. They also demanded
Taka 15,000 from him as ransom.

     Being informed by local people, police rushed to the spot and held them
red-handed and rescued the victim from their hostage.

     A case was recorded with the Paba Police Station in this connection.
