CHATTOGRAM, March 20, 2022 (BSS)-A divisional special court of Chattogram has sentenced Mufti Izaharul Islam Chowdhury, the principal of Lalkhan Bazar Al Jamaatul Islamia Madrasa under Khulshi thana, to two years imprisonment in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in 2013.

ACC Divisional Special Judge Munshi Abdul Mozid, also fined Mufti Izaharul Islam Chowdhury Tk 20000. In default, he will have to serve another two months in jail.

According to the case, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) sent a notice to Mufti Izaharul Islam, seeking to submit his wealth statement within seven working days.

But, he failed to submit the wealth statement within stipulated time.

ACC Deputy Assistant Director Sirajul Hoque filed the case with Khulshi thana on September 18, 2013. The charge sheet was submitted to the court on 20 April in 2014.
 
The court framed charges against Mufti Izaharul Islam on 12 May in 2014.

The court pronounced the judgment after examining seven prosecution’s witnesses out of nine in presence of the convicted person.
