KHULNA, March 20, 2022 (BSS) –Senior journalists Md Faruk Ahmed and Asaduzzaman Reaz have been elected President and General Secretary respectively in the election of Khulna Union of Journalists (KUJ) today.

Chairman of the Election Committee Freedom Fighter Mokbul Hossain Mintu announced the unofficial result after completing the counting of votes this afternoon.

Earlier, the bi-annual election was begun from 9 am and continued till 1pm. A total of 132 voters out of 135 casted their votes in the election.

Meanwhile, Md Jahedul Islam (Samokal) and Alamgir Hannan (Ajker Tatthya) have been elected vice-presidents respectively. Neymul Hossain Kochi (Spice TV) and Dilip Barman (Lakho Kantho) have been elected joint secretary and treasurer respectively.

Besides, Sheikh Abdul Hamid (Dainik Janmobhumi) has been elected office secretary while Mir Moneer(RTV) has been elected publicity and cultural secretary.

The three elected executive members are - Anwarul Islam Kazol (Purbanchal), Milon Hossain (Daxinanchal Protidin) and Sheikh Zahidul Islam (Daily Desh Sanjog).

Meanwhile, leaders of different socio-cultural and political organizations including State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnuzan Sufian, MP, Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque and Parliament member of Khulna-2 constituency Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel congratulated the newly elected KUJ leaders.
