TCB starts selling essentials at subsidized rates in Mymensingh

MYMENSINGH, March 20, 2022 (BSS) - The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh

(TCB) with assistance of local administrations and public representatives
started selling of essential items at subsidized rates among the low income
families here today.

Over 3.2 lakh 'Family Card' holder beneficiary poor families are buying the
essentials from trucks of the TCB dealers marking the upcoming
holy month of Ramadan.
 

Divisional Commissioner of Shafiqur Reza Biswas formally inaugurated the
selling process at the premises of Trishal Poura Centre this morning.

Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Asma Sultana, Deputy
Commissioner Enamul Haque, Mayor of Trishal Pourashava Anisuzzaman, concerned
officials and public representatives were present, among others, on the
occasion.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken initiative for providing essentials at
subsidized rate among the poor and low-income groups in the society.

Under the programme, each selected card holders can purchase two kilograms
(Kgs) of lentil, two-Kg sugar and two-liter of soyabean oil amounting of Taka
460. The essential items are being sold at 64 points in all the 13 upazilas
including 10 pourashavas and City Corporation areas.

Deputy Commissioner Md. Enamul Haque told BSS that 3,02971 selected card
holders in the district will get the commodities at subsidized rates during
the upcoming holy Ramadan.

City Corporation sources said a total of 7,613 low in-come selected families
are getting the essential goods such as sugar, soyabean oil and lentil at
eight points of its three wards today.
 
While talking to the beneficiaries at the City corporation areas they
expressed their happiness to get the essentials at subsidized rates and
thanked the Premier for her humanitarian initiative for the poor people of
the country.
