Birth anniversary of Bangabandhu celebrated in Khulna

 
KHULNA, March 17, 2022 (BSS) - The 102nd birth anniversary of Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children Day was
celebrated here with due respect, fanfare and festivity.
 
On this day in 1920, Bangabandhu, the architect of independent Bangladesh and
the greatest Bangalee of all times, was born in a Muslim family at Tungipara
village of the then Gopalganj sub-division, now district.
 
Marking the day, different socio-cultural organisations, educational
institutions, political parties and district administration observed
different programmes including discussion, cultural function and placing
wreaths at the sculpture of Father of the Nation.
 
The day was begun with 31-gun salute during sun rise. National flags were
hoisted atop of all public, private, autonomous bodies and educational
institutions.
 
Khulna district administration brought out a rally, led by Mayor of Khulna
City Corporation and Khulna City Unit Awami League president Talukder Abdul
Khaleque, from KDA New Market area that ended on Khulna Betar premises after
parading different roads. Later, they placed wreaths at the sculpture of
Bangabandhu.

Afterward, a children gathering, discussion and cultural programme was held
at Shilpakala Academy.
 
"Bangabandhu had organised the Bangalee nation through his dynamic leadership
to fight against exploitation and repression by the Pakistani rulers. The
movement culminated in independent Bangladesh through the nine-month
Liberation War in 1971," the KCC mayor said while addressing the meeting as
the chief guest.
 
Chaired by Khulna Deputy Commissioner Md Moniruzzaman Talukder, Divisional
Commissioner Md Ismail Hossain, Chairman of Khulna Zila Parishad Sheikh-
Harun-ur-Rashid, Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police Masudur Rahman
Bhuiyan, Superintendent of Khulna District Police Mahbub Hossain also
addressed the programme.
 
Later, the chief guest distributed prizes among the winners of different
competition.
 
Recitation programme from the holy Quran was held followed by a doa mahfil
and munajat after Asr prayers there. The mayor, government officials and a
good number of Muslim scholars participated in the doa mahfil.
 
Improved diet has been served at all orphanage, hospital and jail and special
prayers were offered at all mosque, temple, churche and pagoda.
 
Bangladesh Awami League and its front organisations, Khulna City Corporation,
Khulna WASA, Khulna University, Khulna University of Engineering and
Technology, Khulna Agricultural University and other educational
institutions, Khulna Betar, Khulna Shishu Academy, Bangladesh- India
Friendship Power Company Ltd, Khulna Press Club, Khulna Union of Journalists
also observed the day.
