RANGPUR, Mar 1, 2022 (BSS) - Rangpur division recorded 5.96 percent Covid-
19 positivity rate as nine fresh cases were diagnosed after testing 151
samples at two Covid-19 laboratories on Tuesday.
Health officials said the Covid-19 pandemic situation is improving
promptly as the number of positive cases is decreasing daily amid declining
positivity rate during the last two weeks.
Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 4.93 percent on Monday,
2.56 percent on Sunday, 10.19 percent on Saturday, 8.64 percent on Friday,
7.45 percent on Thursday and 8.50 percent on Wednesday last in the division.
Among the nine new patients, three were reported positive after testing 67
samples at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) Covid-19 laboratory at 4.48 percent
positivity rate today.
"The three new patients include one each from Rangpur, Gaibandha and
Lalmonirhat districts," said Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. Bimal Chandra
Roy.
On the other hand, six new patients were reported positive after testing 84
samples at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) Covid-19 Laboratory in
Dinajpur at 7.14 percent positivity rate.
"The six new patients include four from Dinajpur and two from Nilphamari
districts," said Principal of MARMC Prof Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam told the national
news agency that the total number of Covid-19 patients reached 64,062 as nine
new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
The district-wise break-up of the total 64,062 patients include 14,941 of
Rangpur, 4,415 of Panchagarh, 5,472 of Nilphamari, 3,278 of Lalmonirhat,
4,973 of Kurigram, 8,576 of Thakurgaon, 16,903 of Dinajpur and 5,504 of
Gaibandha.
