
RANGPUR, Feb 10, 2022 (BSS) – Rangpur division recorded 27.12 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 99 fresh cases were diagnosed after testing 365 samples at two laboratories in the division on Thursday.
Health officials said the pandemic situation is showing an almost stable trend during the last couple of days despite community spread of the lethal virus continues in the division.
Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 27.22 on Wednesday, 27.07 percent on Tuesday 33.05 percent on Monday, 31.73 percent on Sunday, 36.90 percent on Saturday and 26.10 percent on Friday last in the division.
Among the 99 new patients, 45 were reported positive after testing 177 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) at the 25.42 percent positivity rate today.
“The 45 new patients include 18 from Rangpur, 15 from Lalmonirhat, eight from Gaibandha, two from Kurigram and one each from Dinajpur and Panchagarh districts,” said Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. Bimal Chandra Roy.
On the other hand, 54 new patients were reported positive after testing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the 28.72 percent positivity rate today.
“The 54 new patients include 36 from Dinajpur, eight from Nilphamari, three from Panchagarh and seven from Thakurgaon districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain.
Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam said that the total number of Covid-19 patients reached 62,714 as 99 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
“The district-wise break up of total 62,714 patients include 14,587 in Rangpur, 4,287 in Panchagarh, 5,279 in Nilphamari, 3,169 in Lalmonirhat, 4,903 in Kurigram, 8,482 in Thakurgaon, 16,630 in Dinajpur and 5,377 in Gaibandha in the division,” he added..
