RANGAMATI, Sept 7, 2026 (BSS) - A three-day training workshop on artificial intelligence (AI), fact-checking and journalists' safety began here today for journalists working in Rangamati.

The workshop was inaugurated at 11.00 am at the conference hall of Chattogram Hill Tracts Development Board. Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB), with support from UNESCO, organized the training.

Chairman of the Chattogram Hill Tracts Development Board Major General (retd) Anup Kumar Chakma attended the inaugural session as the chief guest while UNESCO Bangladesh Country Representative and Head of Office Dr Susan Vize presided over the event.

Project Lead of UNESCO's Media and Elections Project Shakil M Faisal, PIB trainer Jilhaz Uddin Nipun, Dhaka Post Head of News Media Ariful Islam Arman, Rangamati Press Club President Anwar Al Haque, General Secretary Muhammad Elias, Reporters Unity President Sushil Prasad Chakma, Journalists Union President Md Kamal Uddin and Journalists Forum President Nandan Debnath, among others, were present.

The three-day training covers various aspects of using AI in journalism, techniques and concepts related to AI, the importance of objectivity in AI-assisted journalism and fact-checking, as well as journalists' professional ethics, responsibilities and duties.

A total of 35 journalists from different print and electronic media outlets working in Rangamati are participating in the training, which will conclude on September 9.
