RAJSHAHI, Sept 5, 2026 (BSS) - Inter-district bus services from Rajshahi to other parts of the country resumed on Saturday (5 September) after being suspended for two days, bringing relief to passengers.

Bus services on different routes resumed around noon, with buses leaving the city for Dhaka and other destinations.

Due to a dispute between bus owners and workers of Rajshahi and Natore, inter-district bus services from Rajshahi to Dhaka and various other inter-district routes across the country had been suspended for the last two days.

According to relevant sources, the dispute between the bus owners and workers of Rajshahi and Natore originated over the launch of a new direct bus route from Rajshahi to Darshana.

Tension was created between the two sides over this issue, leading to the suspension of bus services.

The disruption had caused considerable suffering to passengers travelling on inter-district routes, including the busy Rajshahi-Dhaka route. Many were forced to reach their destinations by alternative transport, paying extra fare.

Later, under the directive of Land Minister Mijanur Rahman Minu, MP, discussions were held between the two sides.

The Inter-district bus services resumed from this noon as the dispute was resolved through discussion.

With the resumption of bus services, relief has returned to the Rajshahi bus terminal. Passengers who had been waiting for a long time have left for their respective destinations.

Concerned parties hope that as a permanent solution to the dispute has been reached through compromise, passengers will not have to suffer in such situations in the future.
