CHATTOGRAM, Aug 29, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested 14 leaders and activists of the banned Awami Jubo League and Chhatra League while they were allegedly preparing to join a procession in the city's Panchlaish area.

The arrests were made around 12:30pm on Friday at Muradpur No. 1 Rail Gate area, said Panchlaish Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mozammel Haque today.

CMP Assistant Police Commissioner (Head) Aminur Rashid said the arrestees were active members of the banned organisations.

A case has been filed against them under relevant sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2009, as amended, he said.

The arrestees were later produced before a court following legal procedures.
