Two dealers fined Tk 20,000 for selling fertilizer at high prices in Bagha

RAJSHAHI, Aug 21, 2026 (BSS)- Two dealers have been fined Tk 20,000 on charges of selling fertilizer at higher than the fixed price in Bagha Upazila of the district.
 
The fine was imposed during a drive conducted on Thursday afternoon by Upazila Executive Magistrate and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Taki Faisal Talukder.
 
It is learned that Asha Traders of Arani Municipality in Bagha Upazila was fined Tk 10,000 and Madina Traders of Arani Union was fined Tk 10,000.
 
The Upazila Executive Magistrate and UNO conducted the drive along with police and fined the two dealers Tk 20,000 through a mobile court.
 
Confirming the matter of the fine, the Upazila Executive Magistrate and UNO said that with the help of Bagha Thana Police, the mobile court was conducted under the Fertilizer Management Act, 2006 and the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009, based on complaints of selling fertilizer at excessive prices.
 
The collected money has been ordered to be deposited in the government treasury.
