KHULNA, Aug 19, 2026 (BSS) - The Khulna City Corporation (KCC) will announce its budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year on September 3.

The decision was taken at a special meeting on the budget announcement held at Shaheed Altaf Auditorium at Nagar Bhaban here today.

KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju presided over the meeting.

The meeting was organised to seek opinions on the revised budget for fiscal 2025-26 and the proposed budget for 2026-27.

Members of the government-formed committee overseeing the city corporation were present.

Speaking about the upcoming budget, the KCC administrator said it would be a realistic one. He said the size of the budget has decreased somewhat as projects for development and rehabilitation of important and damaged roads, as well as improvement of the drainage system, are nearing completion.

Despite a decline in government-funded projects, KCC's own revenue collection has increased in the current fiscal year compared to the previous year, he said.

Manju said the upcoming budget would include plans to facilitate women entrepreneurs in selling their products.

He sought sincere cooperation from all concerned to maintain the pace of development and build Khulna into a prosperous city despite various challenges.

KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed conducted the meeting, while Budget-cum-Accounts Officer Md Moniruzzaman presented data on the proposed 2026-27 budget and revised 2025-26 budget.

Senior officials of KCC, Khulna Metropolitan Police, Khulna WASA, Khulna Development Authority, district administration, BTCL, Fire Service and Civil Defence, BIWTA and other government agencies attended the meeting.
