DINAJPUR, Aug 19, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested a woman with 4,640 tapentadol tablets during an anti-drug operation in Birganj upazila of the district early this morning.

The arrested woman was identified as Jui Akter, 25, wife Md Mamun Islam, a resident of Dala village under Sator union of the upazila.

On a tip-off, a police team conducted a drive at the village and arrested Jui with the tablets from her house, said Birganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Inspector Md Saiful Islam.

Police said Mamun Islam fled the scene after sensing the raid. He allegedly has several drug-related cases filed against him at different police stations and is known locally as a suspected drug dealer.

Police filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act against Jui Akter and fugitive Mamun with Birganj Police Station.
