One held with 1,652 bottles of phensedyl-like drugs in Jhenaidah

KHULNA, Aug 19, 2026 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-6 arrested a youth along with 1,652 bottles of phensedyl-like contraband drugs and a covered van during a drive in Jhenaidah district, said a RAB-6 press release today.

The arrestee was identified as Md Shahin, 20, son of Md Abdul Malek of Jaykalipur village under Bancharampur upazila in Brahmanbaria district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-6, CPC-2, Jhenaidah Camp conducted the raid at Hamdah Bypass intersection under Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station around 11:30 pm on Tuesday as part of its ongoing anti-drug drives under the government's zero-tolerance policy.

During the drive, the elite force searched a covered van and recovered 1,062 bottles of Skaf and 590 bottles of Fairdeal, which RAB claimed were phensedyl-like contraband drugs.

Shahin was arrested for his alleged involvement in transporting the drugs.

RAB said the seized drugs were confiscated following due legal procedures in the presence of witnesses. A regular case was filed against the arrestee with Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.

The recovered contraband, the covered van and the arrestee were later handed over to the concerned police station for further legal action.

Squadron Leader Md Emamim Mubin Sarker Suman, company commander of RAB-6, CPC-2, Jhenaidah Camp, said RAB's drives against illegal arms, narcotics, convicted and wanted criminals would continue.

He said operations would also remain underway to bring to justice those involved in sensational murders, rapes and other serious crimes, the press release added.
