Two killed, one hurt in Rajshahi road accident

RAJSHAHI, July 9, 2021 (BSS)- Two persons were killed and another was injured  after collusion between a truck and an auto-rickshaw in Gopalpur Bazar area on Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway under Godagari Upazila in the district early this morning.

According to the police sources, the deceased were identified as Madhab Halder, 40, son of Narayan Halder of Nasipur village in Chapainawabganj and Selim Hossain, 35, son of Mukhlesur Rahman of the same district.   

Kamrul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Godagari Police Station, said the accident occurred when a Rajshahi-bound speeding auto-rickshaw hit a stranded truck in Gopalpur Bazar area injuring them seriously around 5.15 am.

Selim, driver of the auto-rickshaw, succumbed to his injuries at the nearby Upazila Health Complex, while his passenger Madhab at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

The police officer said Madhab was a trader of doi, a processed product of milk, and was going to Rajshahi market to sell it.

He added that the injured person was undergoing treatment at the upazila health complex.
