KHULNA, Aug 11, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju has described Khulna Collegiate Girls’ School and KCC Women’s College as one of the leading institutions for women’s education in the southwestern region, saying the institution has been making significant contributions to promoting female education since its inception.
He expressed gratitude to former KCC mayor Sheikh Tayebur Rahman, the founder of the institution, saying the model educational institution for women could be established through his sincere efforts.
The KCC administrator was speaking as the chief guest at an orientation programme for first-year honours students of Khulna Collegiate Girls’ School and KCC Women’s College this morning.
Wishing the new students a bright future, Manju urged them to concentrate on their studies, develop their talents, establish themselves in life and contribute to the welfare of the country.
He also called upon teachers to be more responsible in teaching, maintain discipline and help female students become ideal citizens.
He stressed the need to develop not only the institution but also all educational institutions in the city as model institutions.
Principal Prof Dr Md Shahidur Rahman chaired the programme, while school governing body member and KCC Chief Engineer Mashiuzzaman Khan attended as a special guest.
Head of the Department of Food and Nutritional Science Dr Nasrin Nahar Begum delivered the welcome address.
