CHATTOGRAM, Aug 9, 2026 (BSS) - Chattogram Akbar Shah Thana Police have recovered Taka 14 lakh 88 thousand 800 after the sale of stolen gold and a digital weighing scale used to weigh gold during a special operation conducted.
Three people-- Setu Das, 43, Mohammad Ali, 43, and Debabrata Banik alias Balai Banik, 37-- have been arrested in connection with the incident, Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Assistant Commissioner Aminur Rashid confirmed today.
The alleged accused Setu Das alias Salauddin is from the Bara Uthan area under Karnaphuli Police Station in Chattogram while Mohammad Ali from Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla and Debabrata Banik alias Balai Banik is from Muradnagar upazila of Cumilla district.
Debabrata currently lives as a tenant on the fourth floor of Bania Bhaban No. 32 in Hazarigali area of Chattogram city.
A case has been filed with Akbar Shah Police Station in this connection and the arrested persons have been sent to court for further legal action, the police official added.
