MADARIPUR, Aug 2, 2026 (BSS) - A motorcyclist was killed and another seriously injured in a road accident at Dhulgram Bazar under Dashar upazila of the district last night.
 
The deceased was identified as Ashik Akon, 25, son of Jalal Akon, a resident of Dhulgram of the upazila.
 
The accident took place around 10 pm when a bus hit the motorcycle from opposite direction, leaving its rider Ashik and pillion Ramjan injured critically.
 
Local residents took them to the 250-bed Madaripur District Hospital where the on-duty physician declared Ashik dead. After receiving primary treatment, critically injured Ramjan Bepari was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
 
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dashar Police Station Solaiman Mahmud confirmed the matter and said police are working to identify the bus and bring the driver and others responsible to justice.
