RAJSHAHI, July 26, 2026 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-5) has arrested two alleged drug dealers with 20 kgs of cannabis after conducting a raid in the Katakhali Police Station area of Rajshahi Metropolitan City.
The information about this operation conducted on Saturday night was confirmed by RAB-5, Rajshahi Sadar Company, through a press release today.
The arrested individuals are Robiullah, 30, son of Milan Mia from Panishwar area of Sarail Police Station in Brahmanbaria district, and Johnny Mahmud, 30, son of Joynal Abedin from Kuhar village in Durgapur Upazila of Rajshahi.
According to RAB, based on secret information, a special operation was conducted in the Kazi Para area under Katakhali Police Station at 9:35 PM on Saturday.
During the operation, two persons were detained and 20 kgs of illegal cannabis was recovered from their possession.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrested persons admitted that they had been collecting cannabis from Brahmanbaria through various means and bringing it to Rajshahi and selling it in collusion with each other, RAB claimed.
RAB-5 further said that a case has been filed against the two arrested persons under the Narcotics Control Act at Katakhali Police Station in connection with this incident.
They have been handed over to the police station along with the seized evidence.
Law enforcing agencies claimed that intelligence surveillance and special operations will continue to prevent drug trafficking and sale in the Rajshahi region.
