International Customs Day observed in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Jan 26, 2022 (BSS) – The International Customs Day-2022 was observed with the theme ‘Scaling up customs transformations by embracing a data culture and building a data ecosystem’ here today as elsewhere in the country and globe.

The Rangpur Divisional Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate Office organized a seminar at its conference room in Kamal Kachna area of the city marking the day.

Presided over by Divisional Commissioner of Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate Suresh Chandra Biswas, President of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu attended the event as the chief guest.

Tax Commissioner of Taxes Zone-Rangpur Mohammad Abul Kalam addressed the seminar as special guest.

Additional Divisional Commissioner of Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Rangpur Arun Kumar Biswas delivered a welcome speech narrating the importance of observance of the International Customs Day.
 
Additional Divisional Commissioner of Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Rangpur Md Jewell Ahmed presented a keynote essay in the seminar narrating various steps taken by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) in enhancing revenue collection.

The speakers said the revenue earning of the country continues increasing to strengthen the national economy and accelerate national development as a result of various time-befitting steps taken by the government through the NBR in recent years.

The chief guest said citizens are more conscious about payment of income tax, value added tax and customs duty to assist the government in smoothly implementing various mega projects like the Padma Bridge from its own resources.

“Enhancing revenue collection is crucial for building a developed Bangladesh by 2041 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build a prosperous 'Sonar Bangla' as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman," he added.

Suresh Chandra Biswas stressed on comprehensive efforts of all concerned to further increase revenue earning for strengthening of the national economy to accelerate the pace of national development at own resources.
