
FARIDPUR, July 8, 2021 (BSS) - A rare species of gecko locally known as ‘Takkhok’ was recovered here by Alfadanga thana police team and released into the wildlife sanctuary.
The recovered gecko was thirteen inches long, quoting locals district police said in a press release on Thursday afternoon.
The rare reptile was recovered from a bag kept hanging from a tree in front of the house of one Zahid Sheikh of Titurkandi village under Togorbond union of Alfadanga.
Md Wahiduzzaman, Officer in Charge of Alfadanga police station said some unidentified persons were trying to sell or purchase it in the locality. A team of Alfadanga thana police led by SI Kader Sheikh recovered it from the spot. Meanwhile the unidentified persons managed to flee away sensing the presence of police.
The gecko was brought to the police station later and was released into the wildlife Sanctuary near the police station in presence of Upazila forest official Sheikh Liton and others.
A general diary was lodged with Alfadanga police station in this regard.
