DHAKA, July 21, 2026 (BSS) – Paramilitary Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today said it extended free medical treatment to 1,077 underprivileged people in rugged shoals or silt islands of the Padma River in frontiers of northwestern Chapainawabganj.

Commanding Officer of 53 BGB, which guard the part of the northwestern region, Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Mustafizur Rahman said alongside conducting the medical camp today they simultaneously treated 186 livestock through a veterinary campaign.

“Eight specialist doctors having expertise on medicine, gynecology and ophthalmology carried out medical examination, provided medical advice and required services during the medical campaign,” he said in a statement.

According to the statement the free medical camp continued from 9 AM to 2.30 PM Mahmuda Matiullah High School ground in Narayanpur Union under Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila.

The commanding officer said the paramilitary troops organized the campaign as part of their humanitarian obligation for the underprivileged people in the rugged areas within their purview as communication and other obstacles debar them to reach the better medical facilities.

He said the medical and veterinary campaign was meant for people living in remote “char” or shoals of the erosion-prone Padma in frontier areas.

The statement said distinguished people in the neighbourhood witnessed the campaign as the BBGB conducted it apart from their routine duties.
