RAJSHAHI, June 11, 2026 (BSS) -  A farmer was killed and another injured by a lightning strike at Gobindapur village of Godagari Upazila in Rajshahi this noon. 

The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam, 52, son of Tofiqul Islam of Hat Gobindapur village. The injured farmer, Aminul Islam, 50, is the son of Amir Uddin and a resident of the same village.

When the farmers were cutting a roadside tree, a sudden lightning strike hit the area.
 
Abul Kalam died on the spot, while Aminul Islam sustained serious injuries.

After receiving the news, members of the Godagari Fire Service rushed to the scene and rescued Aminul Islam. 

He was first admitted to the 31-bed Godagari Upazila Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was later transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
