RAJSHAHI, May 18, 2026 (BSS)- Due to mud, dirt, and garbage accumulated in the drains for a long time, waterlogging has become a daily struggle in wards 2 and 5 of Rajshahi City.

Finally, today, under the directive of Rajshahi City Corporation's Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, the drain cleaning operation from Rajshahi Community Center to Lily Hall intersection was officially inaugurated after 20 years.
 
Locals say relief has returned to the area now that drain cleaning has started after so long. They hope that unlike previous years, they won't have to suffer from waterlogging this time.
 
Present at the inauguration of the drain cleaning operation were Rajshahi City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Karim, Executive Magistrate Nazmul Alam, Deputy Chief Conservancy Officer Selim Reza Ranzu, and Kashiadanga Thana BNP General Secretary Maziul Ahsan Himel, among others.
 
Rajshahi City Corporation's appeal to city residents: Let us all be aware, not throw garbage into drains, and dispose of waste in designated places. Let's stay aware to keep our city clean and make others aware too.
