RAJSHAHI, May 16, 2026 (BSS)- A day-long job fair was organized in Rajshahi with the goal of opening new horizons for youth employment through training-based skill development.

The fair, which began at a convention center in the city, created a vibrant atmosphere with the participation of 27 organizations.

With the presence of young male and female job seekers, the fair turned into a gathering of possibilities.

The Integrated Development Foundation (IDF) organized the fair with financial and technical support from Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).

Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of Rajshahi, Risadul Islam, was present as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony.

He said, “This initiative to create job opportunities alongside training is timely and commendable. It will boost the confidence of young people and have a positive impact on employment generation.”

In his remarks as special guest, Rajshahi Press Club General Secretary Golam Mostafa Mamun said this type of initiative is exceptional for Rajshahi and carries a message of positive change.

Another special  guest , Prof Matiur Rahman of the English Department at Nawabganj Government College said sustainable employment is not possible without skill development.

He called on employers to provide job opportunities to trained young men and women according to their qualifications.

IDF founding member Professor Md. Shahidul  Amin Chowdhury presided over the event.

In his welcome address, IDF Coordinator Ekram Hossain said that under a six-month, guru-disciple-based apprenticeship program, training is being provided in 20 trades including beauty parlors, tailoring, welding, mobile servicing, graphic design, and IT support.

So far, 843 apprentices have completed training under 249 gurus, and about 90 percent of them have either found employment or emerged as entrepreneurs.

He added that young men and women aged 15 to 35 from low-income families have been included in this program.

During the training period, each apprentice received an honorarium of Taka 21,000 and each guru received 9,000 taka.

At the fair, job seekers submitted their resumes directly at the stalls of participating organizations and took part in initial interviews.

Organizers hope this integrated initiative of training and employment will expand further in the future and open new doors of opportunity for the country’s youth.
