NARAYANGANJ, May 14, 2026 (BSS) - A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a speeding truck in Sonargaon upazila of the district on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Anwar Hossain, 58, a resident of the Masdair area in Sadar upazila. He was serving as a land assistant officer at Gopaldi Municipality in Araihazar upazila.

The accident took place in Mirertek Bazar area under Jampur Union on the Madanpur–Araihazar road.

According to police and local sources, Anwar Hossain was heading to his workplace on a motorcycle when a speeding truck hit him from behind. He died on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge of Kanchpur Highway Police Station Md. Shamim Sheikh confirmed the incident.

The truck driver fled the scene immediately after the collision. However, police have seized the truck involved in the accident. Legal proceedings are currently underway, police said.
