KISHOREGANJ, May 13, 2026 (BSS) - A three-year-old boy drowned after accidentally falling into a rainwater-filled hole in the Nagergaon area under Katiadi upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Chand, son of Md Ashad Mia of Nagergaon area under Bongram union in the upazila.
Family members said Chand was playing in the courtyard of his house with family members in the morning. At one stage, he reportedly fell unnoticed into a hole filled with rainwater beside a tubewell in front of the house.

Family members later found the child lying in the hole and quickly rescued him. He was then rushed to Katiadi Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Katiadi Model Police Station Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter.
