117 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rajshahi

   RAJSHAHI, Jan 14, 2022 (BSS) – As many as 117 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in seven districts of the division on Thursday, taking the caseload to 1,00,377 since the pandemic began in March, 2020.

  The new positive cases are showing an escalating trend compared to the previous day's figure of 81, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of health.

  Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 96,479 in the division after 30 patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day.

   The death toll climbed to 1,694, including 688 in Bogura, 327 in Rajshahi with 209 in its city and 175 in Natore as one new fatality was reported during the past 24 hours, Dr Talukder added.

   Besides, all the positive cases of Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 23,271 were kept in isolation units of different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine. Of them, 20,033 have been released.

   Meanwhile, 50 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 36 others were released from isolation during the same time.

   Of the 117 new cases, 29 were detected in Rajshahi city, followed by 25 in Bogura, 24 in Joypurhat, 17 in Pabna, 13 in Sirajganj, six in Natore and three in Naogaon districts.

   With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 28,570 in Rajshahi including 23,123 in its city, 5,690 in Chapainawabganj, 6,493 in Naogaon, 8,500 in Natore, 4,803 in Joypurhat, 21,918 in Bogura, 11,463 in Sirajganj and 12,940 in Pabna.

   A total of 1,15,665 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10, 2020 to prevent community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

   Of them, 1, 14,456 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
