SHERPUR, May 11, 2026 (BSS) - The truck sale programme of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has begun in Sherpur ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha to provide essential commodities at subsidized prices to low and middle-income people.
Deputy Commissioner Farida Yasmin inaugurated the programme at Shahid Darog Ali Municipal Park ground in the district town today.
Senior district officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Shakil Ahmed and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Saiful Islam Komol, along with other officials from the district administration, were present on the occasion.
According to the authorities, the TCB truck sale programme will continue in Sherpur from May 11 to May 21, except Fridays, for a total of 10 days.
Under the initiative, each package is priced at Taka 480 and includes 1 kg of sugar, 2 kg of edible oil, and 2 kg of lentils.
Officials said the initiative aims to ensure affordable access to essential commodities for consumers during the Eid-ul-Azha period.
