NAOGAON, May 11, 2026 (BSS) - Two people were killed after a private car lost control and crashed into a bridge railing in Patnitala upazila of the district last night.

The accident occurred around 10:00 pm in Ambati Double Bridge area on the Nazipur-Dhamoirhat regional road.

The deceased were identified as Matiur, 45, son of Sharif Uddin and Nazmul, 45, son of Nazrul Islam. Both were residents of Choubaria village in Manda upazila of the district.

Police said they were travelling from their village to Hili in Dinajpur by private car when the driver lost control of the vehicle near the Ambati Double Bridge area. The car then slammed into the bridge railing, leaving the vehicle severely damaged.

Locals and police rescued the two injured men from the wreckage and took them to the upazila health omplex, where on-duty doctors declared both of them dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Patnitala Police Station Mohammad Niamul Haque confirmed the matter and said that police recovered the bodies and sent them to Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy later that night.
