Satkhira, May 11, 2026 (BSS) - A honey collector was seriously injured in a tiger attack while collecting honey in the Satkhira range of the Sundarbans.
The victim, identified as Bablu Gazi, 48, was rescued from the forest by his companions this morning and later admitted to Satkhira Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
The incident took place on Sunday afternoon in the Pairatuni canal area of Kachikhata in the Sundarbans.
Bablu Gazi is the son of Malek Gazi of Dumuria village under Gabura union in Shyamnagar upazila.
According to fellow honey collectors, a group of mouals, led by boatman Yusuf Gazi, entered the Pairatuni canal area on Sunday to collect honey. During the collection, a tiger suddenly emerged from the bushes and attacked Bablu Gazi.
Assistant Forest Conservator (ACF) of the Sundarbans Satkhira Range, Mashiyur Rahman, said Bablu Gazi is now out of danger and receiving treatment at Satkhira Medical College Hospital.
