JASHORE, May 11, 2026 (BSS) - Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a covered van and a motorcycle in Sharsha upazila of Jashore district this morning.

The deceased were identified as Shahinur Rahman, 35, son of Zulfikar Siddique, and Tozammel Hossain, 42, son of late Atiyar Gain. Both were residents of the Ulashi Khalpar area in the upazila.

The accident occurred in front of KB Brick Kiln in the Khajura area on the Navaran-Satkhira road around 6:45 am.

Police and local sources said a covered van, heading towards Satkhira from Navaran, collided head-on with the motorcycle, leaving rider Shahinur dead on the spot and critically injuring co-rider Tozammel.

Locals rescued Tozammel and took him to Sharsha Upazila Health Complex, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sharsha Police Station Maruf Hossain said the bodies were sent to Jashore General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Legal proceedings in connection with the incident are underway, the OC added.
