SHERPUR, May 9, 2026 (BSS) - A Mahindra tractor driver was killed after being hit by a passenger bus on the Dhaka-Sherpur highway in Nakla upazila of the district this morning.
 The deceased has been identified as Abul Hashem, 40, a resident of Dariteghari area of Gaurdwar union in the upazila.
 
 The accident occurred around 7 am in Jalalpur area when a bus heading towards Sherpur hit the Mahindra from behind, leaving its driver Abul Hashem dead on the spot.
 
 A passenger was seriously injured in this incident.
 
Later, he was first sent to Nakla Upazila Health Complex and later to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
 
Nakla Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ripon Chandra Gop confirmed the matter and said further legal action is being taken.
