2 ice cream factories fined in Satkania for unhygienic production

CHATTOGRAM, May 7, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court in Satkania today fined two ice cream factories a total of Taka 2 lakh for producing ice cream and ice bars in unhygienic conditions and using unauthorized labels.

The drive was conducted in the West Kathgarh area under the leadership of Satkania Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Khondaker Mahmudul Hasan.

According to Mohammad Farhan Islam, Safe Food Officer of the Chattogram District Office of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority, Alif Ice Cream Factory was found producing ice cream in an unhygienic environment and using unauthorized fake labels. The owner was fined Taka 1 lakh under the Safe Food Act, 2013.

Another establishment, Nahian Ice Bar, was also fined Taka 1 lakh for similar offences.

Officials said drives against the production and marketing of food products in unhygienic environments would continue to ensure consumer safety and promote safe food practices.
