RAJSHAHI, May 6, 2026 (BSS) - Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, MP, today said the government is working for the welfare of common people, ensuring support for the poor and disadvantaged.

He said regular assistance is being provided from the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund to stand beside helpless, destitute and low-income people, adding that all Members of Parliament are accountable under the Prime Minister's directives in this regard.

"We are working while ensuring accountability to the people," he said.

The lawmaker made the remarks while addressing a function as the chief guest at the Paba Upazila Parishad meeting room here, where humanitarian aid cheques were distributed among beneficiaries.

He said family cards and agriculture cards would be distributed in phases in Paba Upazila, which would further benefit common people and farmers.

Organised by the Paba Upazila administration, the programme distributed cheques worth Tk 5 lakh among 110 disadvantaged families.

Presiding over the function, Paba Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ibnul Abedin said the administration is working sincerely to ensure government assistance reaches genuine beneficiaries with transparency and accountability.

The programme was conducted by Upazila Youth Development Officer Jahurul Islam.

Among others, Paba Upazila BNP Member Secretary Abdur Razzak, Joint Convener Sultan Ahmed, Darshanpara Union BNP President Abdus Salam, Women Affairs Officer Fatema Khatun, Upazila Statistics Officer Faruk Hossain, Upazila Cooperatives Officer Sultanul Islam, officials of different departments and local dignitaries were present.
