TANGAIL, May 5, 2026 (BSS) - Four suspected robbers were arrested in Bhuyapur upazila of Tangail late Monday night while allegedly preparing to carry out a robbery.

According to police, the suspects were detained from the ground floor of a house owned by Nazrul Islam in Ghatandi Notunpara. They were later sent to court on Tuesday afternoon, said Bhuyapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sabbir Rahman.

The arrested individuals are Rabiul (38) of Bholapara village in Gopalpur, Monir alias "Nangra Monir" (38) of Kokadair village in Bhuyapur, Shah Alam (45) and Masud (32), both from Shamshail village in Kalihati.

During the drive, police recovered several tools and weapons including bolt cutters, pliers, iron chains, scissors, switchblade knives and machetes.

Police said the group was caught while preparing to rob the house. Several accomplices managed to flee after sensing law enforcement presence.

The officer added that the arrested individuals have multiple prior cases related to robbery and theft in different police stations across the country.
