MANIKGANJ, May 4, 2026 (BSS) - A preparatory meeting to mark the 127th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was held today at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room in the district.

The meeting was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Nazmul Hasan Khan.

Officials decided to celebrate the occasion with enthusiasm on May 25 at Teota in Shibalaya Upazila, the birthplace of Promila Nazrul, the poet's wife. The event will be organized under the auspices of the district administration.

The programme will include placing floral wreaths at portraits of Kazi Nazrul Islam and Promila Nazrul, along with discussions, performances of Nazrul songs, dance, poetry recitation and drama staging.
