NETROKONA, April 27, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested three alleged female drug dealers and seized 1,000 Yaba tablets, cash, and various items used in drug trading during a drive in the Rajendrapur area of Sadar upazila.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Tumpa Akhter, 25, Rezia, 40, and Sania Akhter, 25, all residents of the same area and members of a family. According to police, they are known to be involved in drug trading.
Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Hafizul Islam confirmed the matter in a press release issued at 1.15 pm on Monday.
He said the drive was conducted around 12:30 am based on confidential information, under the direction of Superintendent of Police Md. Tariqul Islam and supervised by the Officer-in-Charge of Netrokona Model Police Station, Md. Al-Mamun Sarkar.
During the initial phase of the drive, police arrested four suspected drug dealers: Al Amin, 32, Md. Russell, 28, Md. Babul Mia, 48, and Md. Mubin, 28,-along with 600 Yaba tablets. However, the arrested individuals escaped from police custody when their accomplices launched an attack using locally made weapons.
A reinforcement team promptly arrived at the scene and detained the three women allegedly involved in the attack. Based on their information, police recovered an additional 400 Yaba tablets, Taka 46,785 in cash, two laptops, 12 button mobile phones, one smartphone, and three motorcycles used for drug trafficking.
Police officials said that both the arrested and absconding suspects are part of an organized drug trafficking network that has been operating in Netrokona and surrounding areas for an extended period.
Legal proceedings against the arrested are underway, and efforts to apprehend the fugitives are ongoing.
