282 rounds of ammunition recovered in BGB special operation at Ukhiya border

COX"S BAZAR , Apr 26, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered a total of 282 rounds of ammunition and a locally made machete during a special drive in the Palongkhali border area in Ukhiya upazila of Cox's Bazar, according to a press release.

Based on confidential information, a special patrol team from Palongkhali BOP under Ukhiya Battalion (64 BGB) conducted the drive in the Baharpara area at around 11:10 pm on April 25.

Sensing the presence of BGB personnel, the criminals fled the scene, leaving behind the ammunition and weapon.

Following a thorough search operation, BGB members recovered 153 rounds of rifle ammunition and 129 rounds of machine gun (MG) ammunition, totaling 282 rounds, along with one locally made machete.

Despite immediate efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects, no arrests were made at the scene.

Commanding Officer of Ukhiya Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Md. Zahirul Islam, confirmed the matter, stating that intelligence surveillance has been intensified to identify and arrest those involved. 

He further emphasized that BGB remains on high alert to prevent illegal arms, drugs, and smuggling activities along the border and will continue such operations in the future.
