KHULNA, April 1, 2026 (BSS) - Administrator of Khulna City Corporation Md.
Nazrul Islam Manju conducted day-long inspections across the city to monitor
ongoing infrastructure development works, with a focus on improving drainage
and canal systems to reduce waterlogging and public suffering.
The administrator began his inspection in the morning at Ward No. 28 while
visiting the N. Das Lane area where earth removal and development works of a
drain from Binodini Hospital to Bania Khamar are in progress.
During the visit, he instructed concerned engineers to ensure quality
standards in the development.
Later, he inspected the construction drain project stretching from Khan Jahan
Ali Road to Rupsha in Wards No. 29 and 30. Emphasizing timely completion, he
said that quality work must be ensured to ease civic problems.
Manju subsequently visited Ward No. 31 to oversee canal development works
from Khetra Khali Khal to Labanchara Sluice Gate.
He directed officials to take effective measures to keep water flow
uninterrupted and address permanent solutions of waterlogging.
Speaking during the inspections, the administrator said that such projects
are being implemented in phases to improve overall city development and
enhance civic services.
"Alleviating public suffering remains the main goal of these initiatives," he
added.
Chief Engineer Mashiuzzaman Khan, Executive Engineer Md. Masud Karim, Waste
Management Officers Md. Anisur Rahman and Md.Wahiduzzaman along with other
officials were present during the visits.
Officials expressed hope that upon completion of these ongoing projects,
waterlogging in Khulna city will be significantly reduced, bringing greater
comfort to residents.
