RAJSHAHI, Mar 24, 2026 (BSS) - The historic Eid fair in Bagha has come alive with festive a atmosphere, drawing large crowds and showcasing a rich tradition preserved for centuries.

On Monday, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police of Rajshahi Range Mohammad Shahajan visited the fair, which dates back nearly 500 years. After touring the venue, he expressed satisfaction over its orderly arrangement and the enthusiastic participation of visitors. Bagha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Serajul Haque accompanied him.

Earlier, Abu Sayeed Chand-convener of Rajshahi district BNP and a senior central leader-joined the main Eid congregation. Following the prayers, he exchanged greetings with worshippers and local leaders, receiving a warm response from attendees.

Lease committee president Shafiqul Islam said the fair is now being conducted in a disciplined and smooth manner, with past irregularities such as gambling and disorder effectively addressed. He thanked Abu Sayeed Chand, shrine authorities, the upazila administration, and law enforcement agencies for their cooperation.

Locals said the fair has long been an integral part of Eid celebrations in Bagha, enhancing the festive joy. Held from Eid day and continuing for about two weeks, it attracts visitors not only from the area but also from nearby upazilas.
Key attractions include the shrine-centred Urs Mubarak, the historic Bagha Shahi Mosque, a museum, a large pond, and the grand Eid congregation, all of which add to the fair's unique appeal.

The fairgrounds feature a wide range of entertainment, including circus performances, Ferris wheels, radar rides, train rides, motorcycle stunts known as the "wall of death," magic shows, and swings. Numerous stalls-particularly sweet shops from different regions-along with toy vendors and other businesses have further enlivened the atmosphere.

Organizers have ensured a more disciplined and religious atmosphere, allowing visitors to enjoy the tradition with comfort, while earning praise for the role of the local administration.
