BAGERHAT, March 22, 2026 (BSS)- On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, quality food and gifts were distributed to the prisoners in Bagerhat District Jail.

Marking the Holy Eid, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Anup Das was present as the chief guest at the distribution ceremony.

According to prison sources, quality sarees were distributed as gifts to the female prisoners on behalf of Bagerhat Sadar constituency lawmaker Manjurul Haque Rahadu while Lungis were also distributed to its male prisoners.   

Special food was arranged for prisoners on the occasion of Eid.  Payes and muri were served for breakfast while lunch consisted of polao, beef or mutton, chicken roast (one piece for per person), salad, sweets and paan-supari and plain rice, fried rui fish and potato dum were served for dinner.

In addition, a banquet was organized for all the officers and employees of the prison as per the menu set by the Prisons Department.

Khandaker Al-Mamun, the jailor of Bagerhat District Jail, told BSS, “Currently, the prison environment is very orderly. The prisoners have highly appreciated  getting such food on the occasion of Eid and they thanked the present government for this initiative.”

“The prison authorities are always trying to ensure a humane environment for the prisoners and this trend will continue in the future,” he added.

Meanwhile, the high-quality food is also served to the patients of Shishu Sadan and Bagerhat 250-bed hospital on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
