JHENAIDAH, March 21, 2026 (BSS) - A seventh-grade school student was killed in a road accident in the Nagarbathan Bazar area on the Jhenaidah–Chuadanga highway in the district today.
The deceased, Abdul Gafur, 14, was the son of Faruk Hossain of Bagachhara village under Bhayana union in Harinakundu upazila.
Police said after offering Eid prayers in the morning, Abdul Gafur went out with his friends. Around 12 noon, they were travelling to Johan Dream Valley Park in Jhenaidah on a locally-made three-wheeler Nasimon vehicle.
On the way, when they reached Nagarbathan Bazar in Jhenaidah Sadar, Abdul Gafur fell down from the moving vehicle in the road and sustained serious injuries.
His classmates later rescued him and rushed him to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital in critical condition. He died there while undergoing treatment.
Duty doctors at Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital said he died due to lung injuries caused by falling onto the road from a moving vehicle.
Mrittyunjay Biswas, Officer-in-Charge of Jhenaidah Arappur Highway Police Station, told BSS adding that after the post-mortem examination, the body of the deceased Gafur will be handed over to his family.
