KISHOREGANJ, Mar 20, 2026 (BSS)- Local administration has taken extensive security measures in and around the historic Sholakia Eidgah Maidan in Kishoreganj on the occasion of Eid prayers.

The largest congregation of Eid prayers in the subcontinent is held in Sholakia, according to the officials. 

On Eid day, a security cordon will be created in Sholakia by a combination of BGB, RAB, police and Ansar members. As many as 1,100 police members along with five platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will work for the security of the ground, said Eidgah Management Committee President Mohammad Aslam Molla.

With a view to ensuring a foolproof security at the Eidgah, district administration, police and RAB officials have visited Sholakia Maidan in phases.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr SM Farhad Hossain said a total of 1,100 policemen, including plainclothes policemen, 6 teams of RAB (6 people in each team), 5 platoons of BGB, 4 platoons of army and 5 platoons of Ansar members will work in Sholakia. 
 
Besides, four watchtowers were set up in the field for security, out of which two will be used by the police and two by RAB.  

Some 64 CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor the situation around the Eid prayers venue, he said.

There will have 13 archways at different ends of the ground. There will also be drone cameras. A bomb disposal team will come from Dhaka.  There will be a medical team with six ambulances. Ten executive magistrates will be on duty.

The Eidgah management committee and law enforcement agencies have requested the devotees not to carry anything harmful for the sake of security.

This time, the 199th Eid-ul-Fitr larger Eid congregation will be held at Sholakia Eidgah Maidan. 

The Eid congregation at Sholakia will be held at 10 am. Mufti Abul Khair Mohammad Saifullah, Imam of the city's Boro Bazar Jame Mosque will conduct the prayers.
