BHOLA, March 19, 2026 (BSS) - Following Saudi Arabia, Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed tomorrow, Friday, in 17 villages of five upazilas in Bhola.
Around six thousand families in these areas will celebrate Eid a day earlier than the countywide celebration.
According to local elders, these families will observe Eid-ul-Fitr tomorrow as the moon has been sighted in Saudi Arabia.
The first Eid congregation in the district will be held at 9:00am tomorrow in the courtyard of Khalifa Majnu Mia’s residence in Tobgi village of Tobgi Union under Borhanuddin upazila.
Khalifa Majnu Mia, a disciple (mureed) of Sureshwar Darbar Pir of Naria upazila in Shariatpur, used to lead the Eid prayers there.
Following his death, his son Rasedul Islam Babu will lead the prayer this year.
On the same day, another Eid congregation will be held at 9am at the mosque of Chowkidar Bari in the same village, where Maulana Sihab Uddin, another disciple, will lead the prayer.
A further Eid congregation will take place at 9:30am at the mosque of Panchayet Bari in the same village.
In addition, Eid prayers will be held at different locations across the district between 9am and 10am tomorrow.
Nearly six thousand families across Ilisha and Ratanpur villages in Bhola Sadar upazila; Tobgi and Mulaipattan villages in Borhanuddin upazila; Shibpur, Khaserhat, Chandpur and Chanchra villages in Tazumuddin upazila; the municipal area of Lalmohan and Farasganj village; and the municipal area of Char Fasson along with Dularchar, Dhalchar, Char Patila, Char Kukri-Mukri, and Char Bashanbhanga villages in Char Fasson upazila have been observing Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha one day earlier every year.
Apart from the followers of Sureshwar Pir, families of followers of Satkania in Chattogram and Bhandari Sharif Pir have also been observing fasting and celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha in line with Saudi Arabia for over a hundred years.
Bhola Superintendent of Police Md. Shahidullah Kausar told the media that security has been strengthened in coordination with local police for the religious communities celebrating Eid in different villages of the district. Law enforcement agencies are fully prepared to ensure a peaceful and orderly Eid celebration.
